A designer from the Highlands and Islands said she was "very flattered" to be short listed for an honour at the Scottish Fashion Awards.
Lewis-born Sandra Murray, who lives and works in Inverness, has been included in the textile brand category. Award winners will be announced at a ceremony on 29 June. Ms Murray made a thistle-coloured outfit for the Queen for the official... opening of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh in 1999.The eldest of four children, the designer's father is a retired boat builder and former college lecturer and her mother ran a knitwear business. She studied drawing and painting at Glasgow School of Art and her early career was as an art teacher, before turning to fashion design. A bikini made from Harris Tweed was showcased at last year's Cannes Film Festival. |
